Reception

Welcome to Earth Class! Our class teaching team is Mrs Andrews and Mrs Sillett.

This page is where you can find out about what we have been learning, our daily routines and see what Earth Class is all about.

Chinese New Year

Our reception children are doing a 2 week topic about Chinese New Year! They even have a delicious-looking Chinese Take away role play area.
This afternoon, together with the whole of KS1, they learnt facts about the Chinese New Year and their traditions, ate fortune cookies and then made lanterns to celebrate the lantern festival

Forest School

It is widely researched that outdoor learning helps develop a child in so many areas such as: physical, social, cognitive, emotional, social and spiritual. We are so lucky to have a super forest and outdoor areas that the children can explore. The children really enjoyed their first session of the year and can’t wait to go back again!

During our latest Forest School session the children were tasked with creating a nest and making some very delicious bird feeders. We used a wildlife camera to try to capture any new visitors to the forest and we had some great results. The children have watched the lovely video footage of many birds and below are some of the photos. Hope you enjoy them as much as we have.

Being a Game Changer

The children have been thinking about Being a Game Changer and how not all Super Heroes wear capes. Detective Sergeant McMaster made a special appearance where the children got the change to ask him questions about his role in the police force, tried on the police uniform and were even put in handcuff!! Please see below for some super photos of this experience.

Investigating an egg

Earth class found an egg on the field, what could be in the egg? We made it a nest and kept it safe and warm until finally it hatched! A baby dinosaur was inside!

Investigating Germs

We investigated what happens to germs when you use soap to wash your hands. The children conducted an experiment to show how the germs run away from the soap.
